avocado: aguacate (y no abogado, que se dice lawyer)

I know why the word "avocado" is confusing for you spaniards. So I explain it here, if it would interest somebody.
It all has to do with the history of the word "advocado".
It comes from the Aztec word "ahuacatl". In the 17th century this became "aguacate" in Spanish. In 18th century English it was "avigato".
Later people start calling it "alligator pear". Why? Well, the pear shaped fruit came from America, 'the land of the alligators'.
It was exotic and very expensive fruit, fit for rich people like advocates/lawyers. So people start calling it "advocate pear", which became ulitmately became "avocado".

I don't think that our friend heavy is still participating in this forum. Many friends left HLM to create a new forum where Sevilla supporters do not attack our own people.

It is sad, but it was necessary for many of us to have a place to talk about our team, our colors, without having to read comments from people that are "sevillistas" since we won the five titles, insulting our players, our coach, our president, and other true "sevillistas".
